Test and trial new ideas

We’re partnering with the private sector, industry and the community to find innovative transport solutions that can be tested, trialled and rapidly redeployed

On this page

Our partnerships with the private sector, industry and the community will enable us to respond swiftly and in an innovative way to transport challenges.

We have to be more flexible and adaptable to change to meet the community’s expectations.

By actively investing time, effort and resources in a broad range of flexible and quick-to-market solutions, we can support fast, effective changes like reconfiguring existing resources, developing new commercial arrangements and making regulatory reforms.

What this means

We are committed to identifying problems and developing solutions in an agile way, not letting “perfect” stand in the way of progress.

By exploring adaptable policy development, planning and delivery, we can support and enhance traditional models so they meet demand both now and into the future.

What we’re doing

Pilots and trials

As part of our response to coronavirus, we’re designing and conducting a series of pilot programs to test, launch and scale innovative solutions for safe travel in the post-pandemic world.

Intersection management

We’re designing better intersections to help create more space on our roads and ease congestion.

Road optimisation

We’re developing, planning and delivering ways to use technology that will allow us to more efficiently use our existing assets and better use the space on our roads
