Pilots and trials

As part of our response to coronavirus, we’re designing and conducting a series of pilot programs to test, launch and scale innovative solutions for safe travel in the post-pandemic world.

Pilot programs for safe travel

We’re developing these concepts both internally and in partnership with the private sector in order to bring these innovations to life as quickly as possible.

Currently, we are working on a range of trials that involve using combinations of proprietary, operator and crowd-sourced data to give public transport users far more detailed information.

These trials include capacity indicator guides for metropolitan trains and buses, to predict the number of people on board each carriage or bus. This will help people decide if they would like to board or wait for the next service.

We’re trialling technology to monitor real-time bus movements, giving customers an accurate update of service arrival times, again giving them information to decide if they would like to alter their route.
