Priority precincts are areas identified in Plan for Victoria where transformational change is being planned to deliver new jobs and homes. There are 15 priority precincts, including the first six Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) precincts – more information on SRL precincts can be found on Victoria’s Big Build website(opens in a new window).

Priority precincts are key places to deliver more homes in the right locations and improve housing affordability and choice.
- What areas are considered precincts?
Plan for Victoria identifies 15 priority precincts, including the first seven Suburban Rail Loop precincts, where we’re planning transformational change to deliver new jobs and homes. They are:
- East Werribee
- Sunshine
- Footscray
- Docklands
- Fishermans Bend
- Arden
- Parkville
- Richmond to Flinders
- La Trobe (SRL North precinct)
- Box Hill (SRL East precinct)
- Burwood (SRL East precinct)

Victoria has a thriving program of works in regional cities and service centres across the state. Some of these works are part of local precincts, like Central Geelong, which is listed on this page. The precincts listed on this page are priority precincts, just like Suburban Rail Loop precincts. The priority precincts listed here are not located around new Suburban Rail Loop stations, and instead centre around existing transport options.

- Are these precincts related to activity centres?
Plan for Victoria includes plans for many different areas, like metropolitan activity centres, major regional cities to regional service centres and priority precincts.
