Use training as a pathway to university

A TAFE and training course could lead to a degree

On this page

You may be able to get entry into a university course by using a Vocational Education and Training (VET) course as a pathway.

This may be possible through:

Recognition of your skills, experience or past study

If you have done a qualification or completed some units, you may be eligible for a credit transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

RPL or a credit transfer may help you get into a higher level training course or a university course. It may also reduce the number of units you’ll need to do to complete the course.

Find out more about RPL and credit transfer.

A possible pathway to university

Some universities offer a pathway from a specific VET course into a specific Degree course.

Ask your preferred TAFE or training provider if this arrangement exists for any courses.

If so, you should check the university course information and entry requirements before you enrol in the VET course.

Helen Panagopoulos case study

The career that she was meant for: Helen’s health care pathway
