Tech Schools

Tech Schools inspire students to shape a better future today. They provide free high-tech STEM programs to local students, who remain enrolled in their local secondary school.

Victoria’s Tech Schools provide high-tech, hands-on STEM programs to secondary school students in their local areas. Tech Schools are a dynamic, empowering environment where students can design their own solutions to real-world problems.

What’s a Tech School?

In 2015 and 2016, the Victorian Government invested $128 million to build 10 Tech Schools that would provide students with access to advanced technology and industry programs, and exposure to STEM pathways and careers.

In 2023, the Victorian Government invested $116 million to build 6 new Tech Schools and establish a Clean Energy Equipment Fund. The 6 new Tech Schools will be in Brimbank, Dandenong, Frankston, Hume, Wangaratta and Warrnambool.

Tech Schools are part of Victoria’s STEM education centre network, which also include Science and Mathematics Specialist Centres, Knox Innovation, Opportunity and Sustainability Centre and STEM Centre of Excellence.

For students

Tech Schools are a high-tech space where you’ll learn how to solve real-world problems using new technologies and STEM skills.

For teachers

Tech Schools provide local schools with free programs which are mapped to the curriculum and tailored to meet students’ needs.

For communities and industry

Tech Schools build their programs around the needs and priorities of their local communities and industry partners.

New Tech Schools

Six new Tech Schools will be built in Brimbank, Dandenong, Frankston, Hume, Wangaratta and Warrnambool. All 6 Tech Schools will be completed and operating by the end of 2026.
