TAFE disability transition support
Senior secondary school students who have a disability, and who are looking to enrol in a TAFE course as the next step in their education, can get support to help with enrolling and studying at TAFE. Are you a senior secondary school student who has a disability?
Are you thinking about enrolling in a TAFE course after you finish school?
If you’re feeling unsure about the move from school to TAFE, you can get support from a TAFE Disability Transition Officer.
What is a TAFE Disability Transition Officer?
Every TAFE in Victoria has a Disability Transition Officer.
These officers offer free support to senior secondary students who have a disability.
They can make it easier to move from school to TAFE.
What help can you get?
The officers can:
- help you apply for a TAFE course
- help you enrol at TAFE
- help you understand course requirements
- help you access reasonable adjustments
- talk to your family, school and support network
- guide you through your first 90 days at TAFE
- connect you to helpful student services at TAFE
- create a supportive environment so you can succeed.
Who can get help?
You can get help if you’re a senior secondary school student who is thinking about enrolling in a TAFE course and you have a disability (including a mental health condition or long-term medical condition). This includes students at specialist schools and alternate education settings.
