Types of kinder programs

Early Start Kindergarten

Early Start Kindergarten gives eligible children 15 hours of free or low-cost kindergarten a week for 2 years before starting school.

Kinder for Aboriginal children: Koorie Kids Shine

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children can access 15 hours per week of free or low-cost kindergarten. From 2026, 4-year-olds can access up to 25 hours per week of Pre-Prep.

Child care and kindergarten for Aboriginal children

Several child care and preschool services have been established for Koorie children and families that are operated by and for the Aboriginal community.
