Employment Brokers program
Supporting community organisations to deliver culturally aware employment and job readiness programs for African Victorians.
What is the Employment Brokers program?
The program supports African community members with developing job opportunities, networks and career advice.
Community organisations and their employment brokers work in partnership with Jobs Victoria Employment Network for tailored support to jobseekers to develop clear pathways to job readiness and employment.
The Jobs Victoria Employment Network is the Victorian Government’s program that provides funding to specialist employment services to help unemployed people find work.
The Employment Brokers program:
- connects African Australian job seekers in Victoria with existing job networks
- contributes to an improved and streamlined suite of culturally responsive employment-related services for African job seekers.
Employment brokers and host community organisations are provided training and support. Funding provided through the program supports costs for recruiting and hosting community employment brokers, and with partnering with Jobs Victoria Employment Network.
The Employment Brokers programs leads to increased social and economic inclusion, while also assisting Victorian businesses to meet their skills and labour needs.
The objective of the program is to support African Australian job seekers who:
- are experiencing longterm unemployment
- are at risk of longterm unemployment
- lack adequate support through other services to become job ready and gain and retain employment.
