• Chief Information Officer (CIO) forum

The Victorian Government CIO forum is an event series for CIOs and information security leads from across the Victorian public service. It’s hosted on the Innovation Network.

The forum works together to:

• Discuss opportunities, risks and issues from an enterprise-wide perspective.
• Identify solutions for common issues.
• Share ideas and innovation to foster best practice.

• Information Security Advisory Group

The Information Security Advisory Group (ISAG) advises the CIO Leadership Group on cyber security issues.

It’s also a forum for government information security professionals to:

• Collaborate on common issues.
• Review and support the Victorian Government Cyber Security Strategy and associated projects.

ISAG is convened by the Department of Premier and Cabinet Cyber Security Unit.

• Joint Cyber Security Centre

The Joint Cyber Security Centre (JCSC) program is a partnership between business, government, academia and other key partners to enhance collaboration on cyber security.

The JCSCs provide a range of services and support to Australian Cyber Security Centre partners, with centres in most capital cities across Australia.

The program is a central initiative of the Australian Government’s Cyber Security Strategy to bring together business and the research community along with state, territory and Commonwealth agencies in an open and cooperative environment.

The JCSC program’s objectives include:

• Sensitive information, including actionable cyber threat intelligence, is shared quickly between partners.

• Solutions to cyber security risks and issues are developed through collaboration and without commercial bias.

• A common understanding of the cyber security environment and optimal mitigation options is achieved through sharing and analysis of incidents, threats and risks.

• Organisations - at all levels - have access to practical tools and resources to improve their cyber security.

• Consistent education and awareness messages are promoted with and among partners. The ACSC partnership is available to:

• Businesses that are a registered business with an Australian Business Number (ABN).

• Maintain IT security personnel in Australia and can act on operational cyber security or operational technology information.

• Government agencies (state, territory and federal) with a defined role, or key interest in, Australia’s cyber security arrangements.

• Security vendors and consulting firms that sell cyber security products or services, and are willing to contribute their cyber security capabilities to the JCSC program on a not-for-profit basis.

• Academic, research and not-for-profit institutions. To join you must sign a Deed of Confidentiality, which sets out the protocols for sharing and protecting information within the centres.

VMIA partners with government departments and agencies to identify and mitigate harm and manage state-significant risks.
