Victoria’s waste performance and projection model dashboard

A dashboard presenting Victoria’s annual recovery and disposal performance data (2015-16 to 2023-24) and projections of waste generation in Victoria 30 years into the future (to 2053-54). Since 2015–16, the Victorian Government has surveyed the recycling sector and compiled data from external sources to track Victoria’s statewide waste and resource recovery performance. This dashboard presents the results of the survey and data compilation and the results from Victoria’s waste projection model.

Victoria’s waste projection model estimates waste generation in Victoria to 2053-54. The purpose of the model is to inform investment, planning and market needs for government and industry.

The data sources used to compile the statewide performance dataset include:

The statewide waste and resource recovery performance dataset describes waste generation and its fate within Victoria from 2015–16 to 2023–24.

Victoria’s waste projection model uses the statewide waste and resource recovery performance dataset and applies material type-specific projection factors (low, mid and high) to produce baseline projections of waste generation to the year 2053-54. The result of this projection is presented in the above dashboard.
