Victorian African Communities Action Plan

The Victorian African Communities Action Plan (VACAP) is building inclusive communities, improving outcomes and creating sustainable opportunities for Victorians with African heritage The Action Plan was developed for Victoria’s African communities by Victoria’s African communities.

It started development in 2016 led by the African Ministerial Working Group, a diverse group of 22 people of African heritage.

Hundreds of people across Victoria’s African communities participated and gave their views and opinions to help shape the plan.

The Action Plan responds to well-known issues, and aims to uplift and support people to make decisions that improve their lives.

It aims to create opportunities for all people to belong, contribute and thrive.

The actions also build on work already being done by communities, governments and other organisations to support people across Victoria’s African communities.

The Victorian African Communities Action Plan (VACAP) aims to build welcoming communities, improve outcomes and create lasting opportunities for Victorians of African heritage. It acknowledges the strengths of Victoria’s African communities and supports African Victorians to own, lead and be part of solutions.
