State Memorial Service for Mr Shane Warne

A State Memorial Service to honour former Australian test cricketer Mr Shane Warne was held on Wednesday 30 March at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

A State Memorial Service to honour former Australian test cricketer Mr Shane Warne was held on Wednesday 30 March at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Service commenced with a minute silence, followed by a Welcome to Country by Wurundjeri man Alex Kerr, and a rendition of the Australian National Anthem performed by Greta Bradman.

Mr Warne’s memory was then honoured by a number of video tributes and live performances from artists including Elton John, Ed Sheeran, Chris Martin and Coldplay, Robbie Williams, Jon Stevens and Anthony Callea.

Throughout the Service, Mr Warne’s contributions and achievements were honoured through reflections from his family as well as panel discussions featuring his close friends and former teammates.

The Service concluded with Mr Warne’s children, Brooke, Jackson and Summer, unveiling the new Shane Warne Stand at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
