A State Funeral Service to honour the life of The Honourable John Edward Delzoppo was held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, 3 December at St John’s Cooperating Church, Neerim South, Victoria.
Mr Delzoppo was fiercely dedicated to the state and people of Victoria. He served the electorate of Narracan as their local member of the Victorian Parliament from 1982 to 1996. During his time as a member of the Victorian Parliament, Mr Delzoppo was the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly from 1992 to 1996.
Even following retirement, Mr Delzoppo’s commitment to government never wavered. He was the President of the Victorian Parliamentary Former Members Association from 2002 to 2015. In 2009, he was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for his service to the Parliament of Victoria, to local government, and to the community of Neerim.
The State Funeral Service was an opportunity for Victorians to pay tribute to Mr Delzoppo’s life of service to Victoria and community.
