Manufacturing is a major industry in Victoria, producing many essential products and materials. This includes everything from metals and plastics, to clothes and furniture.

It’s expected that 17,200 new workers will enter the industry in Victoria by 2027, and that 57,900 will enter by 2034.*

You could work as a production manager, food processor, packer, fabricator or welder, to name a few. Demand for manufacturing workers in Victoria is going up.

There have been major investments in Victoria in recent years, which is driving growth in advanced manufacturing. Technologies like AI, 3D printing and digital twinning are changing how we make things. Manufacturing jobs in infrastructure and clean energy are also growing.

A Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification can open doors to start a career in manufacturing. It can also help you upskill to move around into different areas of the industry.
