Arts, media and recreational services

Learn more about working in the industry.

On this page

From entertainment to sport, this thriving industry is seeing a growth spurt, and you could be a part of it.

It’s expected that 4,300 new workers will enter the arts and recreation services industry in Victoria by 2027, and that 21,100 will enter by 2034.*

Theatres, museums, galleries and heritage sites all need administrators, managers and technicians, as well as artists and guides. Just about every business needs a media presence these days, so if you have skills in social or traditional media, you’re in luck.

On the recreation side, Victoria is known for its sporting culture. This means jobs in places like gyms, sporting facilities and aquatic centres.

Arts, media and recreational services attract large numbers of interstate and international tourists. With tourism steadily on the rebound, this industry needs more workers to support it.

Job pathways come in entry-level and upwards, and there are many Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses, and other qualifications, to help you find work.
