By law, you must display certain signs (posters) at your licensed venue or location.
We can fine you more than $1,000 if you do not display the correct signs in the correct way (section 102 of the Liquor Control Reform Act 1998).
You can also explore our full range of optional signs.
Which signs you need
Regularly check you are displaying the most up-to-date signs.
Signs can change for many reasons, including if fine amounts change. To stay informed, subscribe to our industry newsletter.
Check the poster’s keycode (bottom left corner) matches the one listed here.

How to print your signs
You must print your signs:
- from the version you downloaded here (no changes allowed)
- in colour on A4 paper (210 x 297mm)
- so they are clear, not blurry or low resolution, with high enough quality that liquor inspectors can easily see the sign’s keycode.
It’s not a requirement, but we suggest using heavier paper stock (120-200gsm) so the poster lasts longer.
How to display your signs
You can be fined if you do not display your signs correctly.
To stay compliant:
- display your signs so your customers can easily see them, such as behind the bar at eye level
- if you frame the sign, make sure the frame does not hide any of the wording or imagery
- make sure the poster is printed straight (not crooked)
- make sure it’s printed clearly, not blurry or low resolution.
You can laminate the sign if you want.
Optional signs
These signs are optional. If you want, we can post you a printed copy. Email your request to contact@liquor.vic.gov.au.
