Restorative programs
Supporting Stolen Generations, their families and communities through a holistic reparations package. The Stolen Generations Reparations Package offers restorative programs that complement financial reparations.
Eligible applicants can access all of the following. Note that a lot of work is underway on this program and the information below may be regularly updated.
A personal apology from the Victorian Government
Eligible applicants can receive a written apology from the Victorian Government signed by the Premier. They may also attend one of a series of personalised gatherings across Victoria where a Senior Minister will deliver an apology to a group of eligible applicants. Applicants can choose one or both options. Applicants will be invited to register their interest for an in-person apology when they apply to the Package. They can also express interest any time before the package closes, using the contact details on this website.
Access to records held by the State about your removal
Eligible applicants can apply to have a copy of the public records of their removal provided to them. On your behalf, we can request public records held by:
-
The Victorian Department of Families, Fairness and Housing(opens in a new window)
-
The Public Records Office of Victoria(opens in a new window)
Please note we are working through a backlog of requests at the present time.
The amount of information available can vary a great deal. Not all agencies will hold information for every applicant. In some instances, historical records can be written in a manner and use language which is racist or confronting and support is available for applicants who receive their records. We will contact you about your individual records release.
