Employers can apply to renew a child employment licence up to 30 days before their existing licence expires.

Licence holders can apply to have their licence renewed up to 30 days before their existing licence expires.
Licence applications and supporting documents should be submitted as soon as possible to ensure we have time to process them before the existing licence expires.
When assessing an application, we consider whether the applicant:
- will act with integrity and honesty
- understands child employment regulations and restrictions
- can comply with the relevant laws, including the Child Safe Standards.
Employers may be subject to a National Police Check. If a police check is required, you will be notified after submitting your licence application.
There is no cost to the licence applicant.
Your information is kept secure and will only be used for the purpose of assessing the licence application.

Renew a child employment licence - quick tips

1. Log in to our online portal
Log in to your existing account in the child employment portal and select ‘My Submissions’ next to your username.
2. Select the relevant licence you want to renew
You can do this by:
- Clicking on the relevant licence in the ‘Child Employment Licences’ tab in your ‘My Submissions’ dashboard
Or
- Clicking on the relevant organisation in the homepage of your ‘My Submissions’ dashboard, and scrolling down to find the licence for the organisation you want to renew.
3. Select ‘Renew licence’
Click on the relevant licence or the three dots ‘…’ and select ‘Renew licence’.
This will take you to the application form where some of your details will be populated based on the information you provided in your original licence application.
Please check that the information is still correct.

4. Complete and upload a Fit and Proper Person Declaration
You must complete a new Fit and Proper Person Declaration and upload it to your renewal application. The declaration on the form must be signed by a person with significant decision-making powers within the business, such as an owner, director, partner or executive. These people are called ‘officers’ under the law.

5. Complete the declaration
Once you have completed your application, make sure the person who signed the Fit and Proper Person Declaration also completes the declaration acknowledging that the information provided is true.
If you are applying for an entertainment industry licence, the officer must also agree to the supervision requirements.
