Regional Recycling Fund

$34.9 million over three years for recycling infrastructure

The Regional Recycling Fund will invest $34.9 million over 3 years to contribute to regional economic recovery from COVID-19 through investing in recycling infrastructure and jobs.

The Victorian Government has invested over $515 million to transform Victoria’s waste and recycling industry. This includes $380 million to deliver the Victorian Government’s circular economy policy, Recycling Victoria: a new economy, which will fundamentally reduce waste, boost jobs, and establish a recycling system Victorians can rely on.

Round 2 - Funding for small Material Recovery Facilities

Round 2 of the Regional Recycling Fund, aims to reduce the costs associated with transporting recyclable materials in regional Victoria. It will invest up to $25 million in small regional material recovery (sorting) facilities. These facilities:

Expressions of Interest (EOI) closed on Thursday 27 October 22.

We are currently processing EOI applications to progress to the next stage of developing business cases.

Round 1

Round 1 of the Regional Recycling Fund provided grants of up to $500,000 per regionally significant resource recovery facility, to help upgrade infrastructure for recyclable materials including cardboard, plastic, paper, glass and mixed recyclables.
