Port Melbourne Secondary College
The Port Melbourne Secondary College (formerly Fishermans Bend Secondary School) opened in 2022, bringing with it the capacity for 1100 students to enrol and be Fishermans Bend’s first senior cohort.
Funded through a Victorian Government initiative, the state-of-the-art school building is located at 477 Graham Street, Port Melbourne in the Wirraway Precinct.
Built adjacent to JL Murphy Reserve and on the proposed future Fishermans Bend tram route, together these facilities will provide a focal point for the family-friendly community that will call the area home in the coming decades.
In 2023, Government announced it would invest $1.5 million into pedestrian safety including new electronic speed signs, fresh line markings, and improved signage to be installed along Graham and Plummer streets, adjacent to the Port Melbourne Secondary College. These safety upgrade works are nearing completion, providing improved access to the school.

Designed with environmental sustainability at its core and a focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM), the secondary school features the following amenities:
- Fabrication lab
- Robotics workshop
- 200-seat lecture theatre
- Gymnasium with competition-grade basketball and netball facilities
- Food technology area with commercial-grade kitchen and canteen
- Performing arts amenities
- Outdoor terraces
- Urban garden with recreational ball sports areas
- Kitchen garden.
Port Melbourne Secondary College’s STEAM focus will also have strong synergies with the University of Melbourne’s new engineering and design campus. The specialised campus will be located north of the Westgate Freeway at the Fishermans Bend Innovation Precinct(opens in a new window) on the former General Motors Holden site.

Children in the local area will be able to complete all their schooling within safe walking and cycling distance, with the secondary school complementing the existing South Melbourne Primary School in the Montague Precinct, and the under construction Fishermans Bend Primary School (Interim Name) in the Wirraway Precinct.
