In-person applications for Working with Children Checks

If you are unable to verify your identity at Service Victoria, you may verify your identity and apply via Australia Post.

On this page

This information is for those who reside in Victoria and are unable to verify their identity online at Service Victoria.

You can verify your identity online with Australia Post and then go to Australia Post to lodge the application in person. If you can’t verify your identity online with Australia Post, you still complete the online application, but verify your identity in person when you go to Australia Post to lodge the application.

Step 1: Complete an online application

As part of your application, you need to verify your identity with us. You can do this in 2 ways:

  1. online
  2. in-person at a participating Australia Post outlet.

Online application with Aus Post

Verify your identity online

Australia Post (acting as our agent) will perform your identity verification using Digital iD™. Online verification with Digital iD™ is fast, safe and secure.

You can verify your identity online if you have one document from each of these lists:

Photo ID:

Other government-issued ID:

Your identity documents must be current and show the same name and date of birth.

If you successfully verify your identity online, you’ll just need to present one acceptable photo ID document at Australia Post when you lodge your application.

If you do not have the two required documents to verify your identity online, you may verify your identity in-person at Australia Post.

Verify your identity in-person

To verify in-person, you must take three (3) original proof of identity documents with you to a participating Australia Post outlet. The three documents must be current and when combined, show your full name, date of birth and photo.

You can’t use two of the same type of identity documents to make up the three documents. For example, you can’t use two different credit cards.

With the exception of those specifically listed, all proof of identity documentation must be Australian issued.

All documents must be current (not expired).

Electronic/Digital documents cannot be used, physical documents must be presented.

You must provide three (3) proof of identity documents:
