The Public Sector Veteran Employment Strategy was launched in November 2016 guiding our work to employ 1,800 veterans into Victorian public sector by June 2025.
If you’re a veteran looking for post-service employment, we are eager to support you to match your skills and qualifications gained in the ADF to exciting and diverse roles within the Victorian public sector.

Register for employment opportunities
If you are a veteran who is already a VPS employee, these resources are also available to you. Veterans working in the Victorian public sector can register to become a mentor, attend networking events and share case studies.

When applying for roles with Careers Victoria, we encourage you to self-identify as a veteran to help us track the number of veterans applying and address any barriers in the recruitment process.
You can also register your interest for career updates in the Victorian Public Sector. This will include invites to employment-related events and resources to assist you in your job-seeking journey.
Join the Veteran Mentor Program
The Veteran Mentor Program matches veterans seeking work in the public sector with a veteran mentor who is currently employed in the public sector or in Victorian local government. This program aims to formalise what veterans already do so well across the public service, which is to provide each other will support and guidance for applying, interviewing, and staying in roles across the Victorian public sector.
Veterans can sign up for networking and the Veteran Mentor Program.
