How fees are set
Application fees are set in the Liquor Control Reform Regulations 2023.
The fees are based on the risk of alcohol-related harm.
Larger venues that stay open late and have higher risks usually have higher fees. Smaller, lower-risk venues will have lower fees.
This model helps reduce costs for small businesses.
Risks are based on your:
- licence type
- venue’s trading hours
- venue maximum capacity (how many people your venue can hold)
- floor space (relevant for some licence types).
