Australasian Conference on Traumatic Stress (ACOTS) 2024
7-9 November 2024
The Australasian Conference on Traumatic Stress (ACOTS) provides a world class forum for the sharing of knowledge about traumatic stress within the Australasian region.
The conference is organised by Australian Society for Traumatic Stress Studies and Phoenix Australia.
This year’s theme Moving through trauma: pathways to transformation, recognises the dynamic nature of recovery. It emphasises the integration of mind and body approaches and explores our evolving understanding of trauma’s impact on individuals and communities.
The conference program includes keynote addresses, panel discussions, interactive masterclass sessions and workshops, poster sessions, a welcome reception and conference dinner.

In Conversation: Supporting gender-based safety in acute and emergency mental health settings
Transforming Trauma Victoria’s Capability Uplift Lead, Anne-Laure Couineau, participated in a recent panel discussion on gender-based safety in mental health services. The event, hosted by the Victorian Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing featured Anne-Laure sharing her expertise on gender- and violence-informed practices.
Pilot updates
Transforming Trauma Victoria has several pilots underway across rural, regional and metropolitan services. The first, co-funded by the Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing, embeds trauma informed practice in the Women’s Recovery Network (WREN) Hospital in the Home programs in Shepparton (Goulburn Valley Health) and Melbourne (Alfred Health and Ramsey Health’s Albert Road Clinic).
Additional pilots are underway at the Brimbank and Greater Geelong-Queenscliffe Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals. Teams are hard at work co-designing and implementing solutions to support services be trauma informed. This supports the rollout of Victoria’s mental health and wellbeing capability framework Our workforce, our future with additional co-investment from the Department of Health.
