Multi-Purpose Taxi Program
The Multi-Purpose Taxi Program is an important service to support Victorians and ensure our transport system is accessible to all. The program supports people with limited mobility by offering subsidised taxi fares.
It pays half the cost of each taxi trip taken by its users, up to $60.
To apply for the program, or to find out more information, visit the Safe Transport Victoria website(opens in a new window).
NDIS rollout and the Multi-Purpose Taxi Program
The National Disability Insurance Scheme is being progressively rolled out across Victoria. It may change the way some program users’ taxi trips are funded.
We are working with the National Disability Insurance Agency to confirm how eligible users will receive transport support through the NDIS. During this time, there will be no change to the way users access their subsidy. In addition, wheelchair-accessible taxi operators and drivers will continue to be paid the lifting fee.
Commercial Passenger Vehicles Victoria will contact affected users once arrangements have been finalised and before any changes take place.
To find out more, and to keep up to date with the transition, visit the Safe Transport Victoria website.(opens in a new window)
Visit the NDIS website(opens in a new window) to find out when it is available in your area or for more information.
