More homes mean more opportunity
Find out more about our plans to build more homes and create more opportunity for families and young people.
Opening doors to get you in a new home sooner
The Victorian Government is opening doors, so more Victorians can open the door to their own home. That means planning more homes in the communities you want to live, close to trams, trains ands services. Slashing stamp duty on off-the-plan apartments and townhouses and for first home buyers, $10,000 if you’re buying or building a new home.
Learn more Right now, thousands of Victorians spend their weekend at auctions and inspections. But still - too many are missing out.
The Victorian Government is introducing a range of policies to deliver more homes for Victorians.

Train and tram zone activity centres
We’re planning for more homes close to public transport, jobs and services in 60 activity centres across Melbourne.
Off-the-plan stamp duty concessions
The Victorian Government is slashing stamp duty on off-the-plan apartments, units and townhouses.
Infrastructure funding where homes are being built
A fairer system for property developers to contribute to funding for local infrastructure, parks and services in the areas where they build more homes.
A 10-year pipeline of land for family homes and backyards
The government has released a landmark plan for 27 new greenfield areas across Melbourne’s outer south-east, north and west to be released over the next 10 years.
Unlocking government land for more homes
Unlocking and rezoning surplus government land will deliver around 9,000 homes across 45 sites in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Increased building quality protections for Victorian homeowners
The Victorian Building Authority will be replaced with a new more powerful watchdog to deliver more protections for Victorian homebuyers.
More homes and great communities for regional Victoria
The $1 billion Regional Housing Fund will deliver 1,300 social and affordable homes right across regional Victoria
Making it easier to subdivide blocks and build new homes
A review will examine how our planning and building systems can be streamlined, enabling more Victorians to add a second home, build two new homes, or subdivide a block into two lots.
Homes that look great and last
The Victorian Government is recognising and rewarding the next generation of great Victorian architecture, encouraging more well-designed homes built to last.
Great parks and green spaces for local communities
Pick My Park is a $30 million dollar program that will create and upgrade more green spaces in growing suburbs, with projects chosen by you.
