New Year of Learning Year 7s

[Student Speakers]

How easy was it to make friends?

I waited until we did, like, our little introductions and like… You know, like,

what’s your name? And three things that you like doing? And just like, walk towards people that have the same interests as me.

I kind of wondered if my friendship would change. And it did. But I also met new people, which was really good for me.

How do you remember your locker combination?

Yeah, a lot of people have forgotten theirs.

I personally filmed a video of myself, like, doing it. It was really funny. And just like,

writing it down, writing on your hand, writing it everywhere. And just like, memorising

the numbers in your head.

Did you get lost in your first week?

I didn’t get lost in my first week but some of my friends did.

But because your whole class is with you the whole time, you kind of just follow everyone else. So it’s pretty easy to get around.

What’s the most fun thing about Year 7?

Probably when it’s the start of the year when you go to camp and stuff.

It’s the sports. The sports.

Because it’s a good way to meet new people and have lots of fun.

I’m doing volleyball. Like, I’m a tall dude. How am I not playing volleyball?

Final tip…

[Student Speaker]

I think my best tip would be to just be yourself and kind of enjoy it. Be nice to your teachers. Be nice to everyone because they’ll be nice back.

[Male speaker, off camera]

Go for it.
