Teach the Future – Matt Brand

Matt Brand, Assistant Principal at Kingsley Park Primary School:

For as long as I could remember, I wanted to be a primary school teacher.

The connections that you make that’s what it’s always been for me.

What motivates students?

Moving from the UK to Victoria has allowed me to specialise in my passion subjects like ICT.

Every year there’s new things for the children to explore, to try and learn.

I’ve implemented engaging technologies allowing the children to celebrate school life.

New tech is a great way to do that.

I definitely think that there’s not many 6’8 primary school teachers.

I very often have to get down to their level, it comes back to that connection.

In this job, you never watch the clock. The children keep it fresh.

You always feel you’re doing something different by being different, and that’s enjoyable.

I’m Matt Brand, I work at Kingsley Park Primary School in Frankston, currently the assistant principal.
