https://player.vimeo.com/video/740955755

Hi, my name is Sara. I live with my husband and four kids in Melbourne. We’ve been in Australia for over 7 years.
My daughter Retal is attending Four-Year-Old Kindergarten.
My husband and I wanted to find somewhere close by for Retal to go while we were at work. We wanted her to learn new skills and make friends. We talked to other parents and our neighbours. That’s how we found out about the kindergarten programs and the ‘Find a Kinder’ website.
These are programs run by a teacher and approved by the government. While she’s there, Retal learns lots of different things while playing and gets to use her imagination. We wanted her to be well cared for at this important age. We chose to enrol her at a childcare that runs a Three-Year-Old Kindergarten program.
Three-Year-Old Kindergarten has been great for Retal. Since she started, we’ve noticed her become more confident and independent.
Making friends and learning while having fun has been an important part of her developing these skills. We’re excited to see her learn new words and become more independent.
We also think it’s good for Retal to have friends from other backgrounds to play with, so she understands the diverse culture of Australia. And her friends get to learn about her culture too.
The most important thing is that Retal is happy on her kindergarten days, and she is excited to go back. She feels good about herself and has learnt so much. Having two years at kindergarten means she will be confident and ready for school.
Starting a quality kindergarten program at an earlier age leads to even more positive effects on child development.
