Preston South Primary School

For us at home the primary thing that we were looking for when we were choosing a school was the type of culture that the school had. Some of the best things at Preston South are certainly to do with the level of quality of the building, the environment, the specific facilities that we have here and then the quality of teaching.
The school has tailored learning for my son because they’ve put him in smaller groups. Because he’s needed that extra help for numeracy and for his reading. So he’s had the opportunity to be in tutoring classes as well.
The introduction of the health and wellbeing teacher has greatly impacted our students, providing them with targeted support with their learning and their engagement to school.
All students at our school are welcome. We ensure that all students are included in all programs.
At Preston South Primary disability inclusion is a range from having clubs at lunchtime for those students, all the way up to having specialised teachers that give tailored one on one support in class time.
The positive behaviour programs at Preston South Primary have really allowed us to focus on the positives, and teaching the students the correct behaviours that we’re looking for and what will ultimately make them good citizens.
I think one of the best things about public schools is the diversity that they offer of students and their different backgrounds that they come from. Public schools are very good at supporting the whole student in terms of their social, their emotional and their academic performance.
So some of the things that the kids like best and that I like best about being at South Preston are access just to a really great community. I think there’s a really diverse community here, which is really lovely.
And it’s a nice emphasis not only on the learning and the academics, but also on a lot of social interaction, which is lovely.
I actually do think that public schools are a very good way for preparing kids for real life and I’ve seen for my kids, I know that they’re really happy and that, you know, they see that their teacher is really engaged with them and that they want to perform well and then it just comes together.
Your public school. It’s all here.
