Liquor licence application fees

Fees when you apply for a new liquor licence or permit or make changes to an existing one.

You usually need to pay an application fee when you:

The fee is non-refundable, even if we do not approve your application.

Fees are for the 2025–26 financial year. Fee units are updated each year by the Department of Treasury and Finance.

You can apply to make changes to an existing licence or permit.

How fees are set

Application fees are set in the Liquor Control Reform Regulations 2023.

The fees are based on the risk of alcohol-related harm.

Larger venues that stay open late and have higher risks usually have higher fees. Smaller, lower-risk venues will have lower fees.

This model helps reduce costs for small businesses.
