Candidates: Aspiring Koorie Teachers Now
Expression of interest form for First Nations peoples to work and learn while completing teaching studies. Aspiring Koorie Teachers (AKT) Now supports First Nations peoples to work and learn as Education Support staff in Victorian government schools while they complete their teaching or educational support studies.
AKT Now offers eligible Initial Teacher Education (ITE) candidates various forms of support, including employment in Victorian government schools and individualised mentoring and wrap-around support. The employment and support will complement and extend upon the existing services already provided by your University.
The AKT Now employment will be as an Education Support worker for up to 12 months within a Victorian government school. The benefit of this work is how it provides immersive experience of many different classroom settings. Education support work can involve several complex scenarios in any given week. Each day, you could be alternately assigned to directly supporting a child with special needs; or to several children in one class together; or you might be floating across several classrooms providing general assistance.
The jobs are available in culturally safe schools located in regional Victoria or within metropolitan Melbourne.
Places are limited. If you’re interested in applying, please complete the Expression of Interest form.
For further information please visit Become a Koorie teacher in Victoria or contact us at AKTN@education.vic.gov.au if you have questions.
