eSmart

Helping schools promote cybersafety and prevent cyberbullying.

eSmart is an initiative of the Alannah and Madeline Foundation that aims to create a culture of smart, safe, and responsible use of technology.

eSmart recognises the important role schools play in preparing students to confidently navigate a digital world, and supports the implementation of evidence-based policies and practices to promote cyber safety and assist in the prevention of cyber bullying.

New opportunities are available to Victorian schools to have free access to the eSmart suite of programs.

The eSmart Schools framework helps school communities prepare for and respond to cyber risks and cyber bullying issues so students feel safe and well supported at school.

After implementing any changes in operational practices to achieve eSmart status, schools become eSmart Members, which provides them with additional expert support and resources to continue reviewing and improving their cyber safety policies and processes.

Schools are supported by a team of eSmart Advisors, professional development opportunities and community webinars as they review their school operations, using best-practice guidance within the framework.

The eSmart Digital Licence is an online cyber safety program that teaches primary and secondary aged students critical digital skills to be smart, safe and responsible online.

The program incorporates eight modules that address privacy, searching, sharing, gaming, social networking, risky behaviours and cyber bullying.

The eSmart Media Literacy Lab is a gamified teaching and learning tool, equipping students aged 12 to 16 with essential knowledge and skills to navigate and thrive with media.

Teachers can flexibly deliver module sessions in blended and remote learning environments, supported by original and curated partner resources, and professional learning opportunities.

Using the expertise from world-leading programs, the Alannah and Madeline Foundation has established a range of live workshops in the areas of cyber safety, bullying, and wellbeing for children and young people, as well as the adults who work to support and protect them.
