Become a registered Learn Local provider
How to apply to be a Learn Local provider, including the registration guidelines and criteria.
Why register?
When you register with the Adult, Community and Further Education Board, you are able to deliver Victorian government funded ACFE Board programs. Registration helps ensure training is high quality and available across the state.
Registered Learn Local providers offer training that is:
- Inclusive
- Flexible
- Easy to access
These training programs help adults build skills in:
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- English language
- Digital skills
- Employability
Who can register?
Victorian not-for-profit organisations can apply to register with the Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board.
Contact the Department of Jobs, Skills, Industry and Regions before applying. We can help check if you’re eligible and if your organisation meets local training needs.
What are the benefits?
Registered Learn Local providers can:
- Receive Victorian Government funding to deliver pre-accredited training.
- Apply for grants from the ACFE Board.
This funding helps providers improve their services and better support priority learner groups.
Only registered Learn Local providers can apply for funding to deliver pre-accredited programs.
How to apply
Your organisation must meet all the requirements outlined in the Registration Guidelines.
If you are applying for the first time:
Contact the department by email to sector.engagement@djsir.vic.gov.au, to discuss your interest and check your eligibility.
If you’re already registered:
Download the Guidelines and Criteria for Registration with the Adult, Community and Further Education Board from the Learn Local sector hub, located in the Learn Local secure portal.
Business and Governance Status assessment
If your organisation is already registered with the ACFE Board or wants to register, you must complete a Business and Governance Status (BGS) assessment.
Who must submit a BGS?
All organisations must submit a BGS, except:
- Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) with a current Skills First Contract.
- Providers operating under local government.
Note: Learn Local providers must get an independent accountant to complete their BGS.
What you must do annually
- Make sure your organisation has the right systems to manage grant funding.
- Upload your BGS in SAMS as soon as you can after your financial year ends.
- A completed and approved BGS is needed before contracts and payments can be finalised.
Note: Your BGS needs to be submitted within 5 months of your financial year-end, unless an extension has been approved by Consumer Affairs Victoria.
If you send the BGS in late, it may delay contracts and payments.
Where to get more information
Contact the department by email to sector.engagement@djsir.vic.gov.au
