2024 Australian of the Year Awards for Victoria
The 2024 Australian of the Year Awards for Victoria were held at the National Gallery of Victoria on Tuesday 14 November 2023. The gala was hosted by Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC Governor of Victoria.
At the event, Victorian winners were announced in four categories; Australian of the Year for Victoria, Senior Australian of the Year for Victoria, Young Australian of the Year for Victoria and Local Hero for Victoria.
The nominees were varied: a generous foster mum, a passionate teacher, a firefighter battling for the health of his colleagues, a reforestation pioneer, an animal welfare advocate and a person bringing communities together through a ‘gnarly’ neighbourhood program.
The Victorian award recipients went on to join other state and territory finalists for the national awards on Thursday 25 January 2024 in Canberra.
