Victoria leads the nation at the 2021 Australian Training Awards

Congratulations to the Victorian winners and finalists of the 2021 Victorian Training Awards. Victoria’s vocational education and training sector emerged with four winners and one runner-up at the Australian Training Awards held in Perth on 18 November.

The four awards were the equal most of any state in this year’s Awards – an honour shared with New South Wales.

For the sixth year in a row, a Victorian TAFE has taken the title of Large Training Provider of the Year at the Australian Training Awards.

William Angliss Institute took out the 2021 award following wins by the South West, Sunraysia, Wodonga and the Gordon and Box Hill Institutes of TAFE since 2016.

Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney today congratulated the Victorian winners, saying the national recognition confirmed the high standards and talent in the state’s TAFE and vocational training sector.

She said the win by William Angliss Institute confirmed Victoria’s position as the Education State.

Impressively, Victorian individuals, institutions and businesses were named as finalists in 13 of the 15 categories. 10 of these finalists were drawn from the winners of the 2021 Victorian Training Awards held last month, while three were direct-entry finalists.

The Australian Training Awards highlight outstanding achievements by individuals, teachers, training providers and employers in the vocational education and training sector from around Australia.

They are the most prestigious and competitive awards for vocational education and training in the country, and the impressive performance of Victoria’s finalists, runners-up and winners are a testament to the strength and resilience of the sector over what has been a challenging last year.
